Sherry Snipes is a dynamic authority on diversity and inclusion who is passionate about the changing face of the world and changes facing the world. She has the unique experience of leading diversity initiatives at public and non-profit organizations where she has been responsible for all aspects of diversity and inclusion from design and implementation to re-engineering, including launching multiple women’s leadership and diversity training programs.
Sherry is truly committed to creating a more diverse and inclusive world which lead her in 2012 to co-found the DANDI Awards which spotlights organizations and individuals truly making a difference towards creating a more diverse and inclusive world. In 2011 she founded the Global Diversity Collaborative, a start-up non-profit focused on leveraging technology to build an international network of executives, professionals, activists and educators.
By day Sherry leads diversity programming at the American Institute of Architects. She previously held the role of Global Head of Diversity, Inclusion and Engagement for Arrow Electronics, Inc. (NYSE: ARW) and also held key leadership roles with MSC Industrial Direct Co., Inc. (NYSE: MSM), John Kaldor Fabricmaker and the Society for Human Resource Management.
In 2011 Sherry was recognized by The Network Journal as one of the “25 Most Influential Black Women in Business” and 2009 she received the NAAAHR Greater New York Leadership Award. Sherry has been featured in numerous publications including The Network Journal, Newsday, Diversity Careers, Diversity Executive, Uptown Professional and Savoy Professional. An engaging speaker, she has participated in US and European World Diversity Leadership Summits, European Black Women’s Symposium, Hungarian Women’s Forum, Past speaking engagements include the European Black Women’s Symposium, U.N. World Diversity Leadership Summit, the Conference Board Diversity Conferences, BEYA Congress of Diversity Professionals, Diversity Best Practices Annual Conference and GPP/Global Women’s Leadership Forums.
Sherry is a 2009 recipient of NAAAHRGNY Diversity & Inclusion Leadership award and has been interviewed by Newsday, Careers in disAbled Magazine, Diversity Careers Magazine and Savoy Professional. Additionally, she had the honor of being featured in the book “Voices of European Black Women Vol. 1”. and numerous forums and conferences.
She is chairs the Advisory Board for the STEM Academy at Cardozo Senior H.S. in Washington D.C. and has served on the boards of Uptown Professional magazine, PGA Glow Golf Initiative, American Lyric Theatre and Partnership with Children. A graduate of Hampton University, Sherry spends her personal time raising two active boys. Her personal mantra is: “Inspire and aspire greatness”.
